I personally find Araki's work interesting because of the very vibrant and unique colour choices. It creates a very beautiful aesthetic in my opinion. Along with this, the posing of the characters makes them seem cool, iconic and really helps to make his style of work stand out. I thought he'd be interesting to look at for my theme of emotions because of the feeling these elements can evoke, and simply because I personally just love his art.
I started with a drawing of one of Araki's characters. This was to get a feeling of how his drawing style works. I decided to use ink wash to add at least a bit of own spin on it.

| With this work I wanted to try to familiarize myself with painting as its not something I've done very much. So, I decided to mix acryllic painting with ink washing here as I've already done that above. To emulate the artwork of Araki I decided to pose in a way he draws people. I thought of poses on fashion magazines as Araki tends to look at them for inspiration in his artwork. |

This work was a further step into painting and this time I obviously painted all of this except for the linework. Again I used acryllic paint. I wanted to capture the often strange colour schemes Araki uses so I used entirely different colours than in the photo. I also wanted it to look natural in a sense, so for my dark hair I used a dark purple and a light blue for my white t-shirt. A lot of the difficulty personally came from mixing the paints for just the right colours and I honestly still haven't fully gotten the hang of doing it.
